Partner interview
Qualified candidates are interviewed by the prospective host organization (via Skype, Zoom or video call) once their documents are received at ISEC International, USA.
Visa petition
ISEC (or the host's Office of International Affairs) files the J-1 exchange-visitor visa petition with USCIS. Allow ~45–60 days; issuance of a visa is not guaranteed. Filing and immigration-lawyer fees may be incurred by the candidate.
Travel & arrival
Once the visa is issued and the date confirmed, participants are welcomed at the airport and taken to accommodation. Mentors are assigned to each group for orientation and integration.
Financial readiness
Participants should have a secured bank account of at least US$5,000 for travel, documentation and first-trimester expenses (a visa qualifying document). This may be covered by a sponsoring organization.
- — IVSC service contracts run from three (3) to thirty-six (36) months and may be renewed. At the end of the contract, participants return to their countries.
- — Where a licence to practice is required, participants are placed for intensive review training for the licensure examination with ISEC International College before or during the first trimester of engagement.
- — Participants may pursue further studies with ISEC International College or partner universities — on-campus or by distance/online learning.
- — Participants on placement are remunerated through stipends, negotiated between the host agency, ISEC International and the participant; all parties must agree the conditions before travel and placement.
